About Us

We are a team of Paediatric Physiotherapists treating children and young people up to the age of 16 years old, in a variety of settings within the hospital.

In the Physiotherapy Department, located in the Surgical Centre, children and young people (usually of school age and over) are seen for a variety of conditions. For example, rehabilitation following trauma, fractures, and soft tissue injuries; assessment and management of musculoskeletal pain.

Babies and younger children are seen by Specialist Physiotherapists in clinics held in Children’s Outpatients, Bernard Meade Wing. Conditions seen in these clinics include, plagiocephaly and torticollis; Erb’s Palsy (Obstetric Brachial Plexus Palsy); walking concerns e.g., in toeing and tiptoeing; symptomatic hypermobility.

We have two Advanced Practice Physiotherapists, who have expertise in the diagnosis and management of Paediatric Orthopaedic conditions, Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) and the management of clubfeet, using the Ponseti treatment method. These specialist clinics are held in Children’s Outpatients.

A Senior Physiotherapist from the inpatient team will see any children and young people who may require physiotherapy whilst on Sunshine Ward.
