The Consultant Community Paediatricians are part of the Kingston Hospital Trust Child Development Team providing services for children and young people aged 0 to 18 years who have a range of developmental and special needs. They are based at the Moor Lane Centre in Chessington.
The Consultant Community Paediatricians carry out neurodevelopmental assessments looking at aspects of children’s general development – including hearing, vision, motor skills, speech, language and communication, behaviour and social skills.
Where appropriate they carry out joint assessments with in-house and external therapy colleagues. They carry out statutory assessments for Children Looked After (CLA) and those children going through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. There are designated clinics for children with Downs Syndrome.
The Consultant Community Paediatricians run outreach clinics for children who attend local special schools and work as part of the Social Communication Assessment Team. They participate in the clinics of visiting orthopaedic and neurology professionals.
