About us

Our cancer services are run in partnership with the Royal Marsden Hospital, a world-leading provider of cancer care and with St George’s Hospital, a fellow NHS South West London Trust. Services are delivered at Kingston Hospital.

The Sir William Rous Unit is for people with cancer, or concerned they have cancer.

Outpatients are seen at both sites, with inpatient and day case surgery provided at Kingston Hospital. We also provide systemic therapy for blood cancers and solid tumours.

The Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust is part of the RM Partners. RM Partners, the west London Cancer Alliance, is leading on the delivery of the recommendations in NHS England’s National Cancer Strategy to transform cancer services and improve outcomes and experience for its population.

We have links with other services provided at the Royal Marsden, and at St George’s Hospital.

What we do

Kingston Hospital provides diagnosis, treatment and support services for people with most types of cancer. For most people, we aim to confirm or rule out a cancer diagnosis within 28 days of your GP referral. If you need treatment at another hospital, we aim to refer you within 38 days of your GP referral to Kingston Hospital.

Please see our Cancer care FAQs to find out more detail about what to expect.

Tests and investigations

It’s important that we find out what could be wrong as quickly as we can.  You will be asked to come for tests and investigations at very short notice, sometimes the same day.

Please reschedule all non-urgent daily activity and do you best to attend these appointments.
