Mr William Maclean MB ChB MD FRCS
Biography
Mr Maclean trained at Bristol University Medical school. He undertook SHO training in the Wessex deanery and has completed his General and Colorectal Surgery registrar training years in South-West London Hospitals obtaining his CCT in October 2023.
He took time out of training as a Research Fellow in the Minimal Access Therapy Training Unit (MATTU) at The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and completed an MD about faecal immunochemical testing (FIT) through the University of Surrey.
His research was recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons to offer an Honorary Research Fellowship, he won the Rosetrees Essay Prize and a publication in Colorectal Disease was one of the Wiley top-cited articles 2021-2022
After CTT, Mr Maclean undertook a Laparoscopic Fellowship at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust before obtaining a consultant post here at Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.
Mr Maclean’s clinical interests are in minimally invasive surgery and enhanced recovery after surgery. He is the lead for colorectal robotic assisted surgery here at Kingston. He also performs Open Surgery, Colonic resections, Proctology, Hernia repairs, Laparoscopic surgery, Hernia surgery and Appendicectomy.
