Biography

Mr Siddiqui qualified from St Bartholomew’s Medical School in 1999. He stayed in the London region for general surgical training then proceeded to Specialist Orthopaedic training, working at several hospitals including the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore; Royal Free Hospital, Hampstead; and the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.

He developed further sub-specialty skills and experience in all aspects of Upper Limb Surgery during three specialist fellowships; one year at the world-renowned Brisbane Hand and Upper Limb Unit in Australia and a further year at two leading upper limb specialty units in the UK – Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol and University Hospital Coventry.

He was also awarded the prestigious Watanabe Travelling Fellowship, visiting several centres of surgical excellence around the UK specialising in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Mr Siddiqui works as an NHS consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Kingston Hospital. He specialises in shoulder, elbow and hand & wrist surgery. He has a special interest in keyhole (arthroscopic) surgery of the shoulder and elbow, treating a wide variety of conditions previously treated with open surgery; in addition he has a special interest in hand conditions including severe Dupuytren’s contractures and arthritis, as well as operating on more straightforward conditions such as carpal tunnel decompression.

He undertakes joint replacement surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and fingers.

Professional bodies he is a member of include: British Elbow and Shoulder Society, Orthopaedic Trauma Society, AO Trauma Foundation, Royal College of Surgeons of England, and British Medical Association.

He has a keen interest in teaching on courses and supervising the training of junior doctors and medical students.

All his patients have their functional outcomes measured objectively, to ensure continued excellence in clinical practice.

He has numerous publications, such as a review of treatment of tennis elbow, and management of hand fractures. He has presented at national and international meetings, and has an ongoing interest in research. He is a reviewer for several orthopaedic journals, has chaired sessions in international meetings such as the European Federation of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFORT) Annual Congress, and is on the research approvals committee for Arthritis Research UK.

He is clinical lead for the Kingston Bone Health project, promoting osteoporosis treatment and prevention.

He lives with his wife Louise and enjoys photography, track days, and travelling.
