Biography

Mr Elgohary MB ChB MSc MD FRCSI FRCSEd FRCOphth trained as an Ophthalmology Specialist at Moorfields Eye Hospital and other hospitals on the North Thames Rotation. He then trained as fellow in Vitreoretinal Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, and in Paediatric Ophthalmology and retinal disorders at the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada.

Mr Elgohary graduated from Tanta Medical School, Egypt, in 1990, where he also had Masters degree. Later, whilst in training at Moorfields, he completed and obtained a Doctorate degree from University College London (UCL).

Expertise

Mr Elgohary’s expertise is in the treatment of:

-Retinal detachment,

-Diabetic retinal disorders,

-Macular holes,

-Epiretinal membranes,

-Eye injuries and

-Complex & complicated cataract surgery

Research & teaching

Mr Elgohary has research interest in the outcome of retinal detachment surgery and macular hole repair surgery. He has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.

Mr Elgohary also teaches on several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including at UCL, where he is an honorary lecturer.
