Biography

Mr Porteous is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with a specialist interest in glaucoma and cataract and the current clinical lead for glaucoma. He undertook a fellowship in glaucoma at the Western Eye Hospital, London and completed his ophthalmic specialty training in London, predominantly at Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Western Eye Hospital.

Mr Porteous has a keen interest in all aspects of glaucoma management. He is experienced in glaucoma laser procedures including selective laser trabeculoplasty, YAG laser peripheral iridotomy and MicroPulse transscleral cyclodiode. He is also experienced in both minimally invasive glaucoma surgery techniques (including iStent and endocyclophotocoagulation) and more traditional filtration surgery.

Mr Porteous is an experienced cataract surgeon and can undertake cataract surgery with premium toric intraocular lenses.

Mr Porteous has successfully published articles in a number of medical ophthalmic journals and has presented at a series of national and international meetings.

Mr Porteous has a keen interest in training and education, having undertaken an undergraduate teaching fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, completing a postgraduate certificate in medical education with Dundee University and currently holds a position on the Training the Trainers sub-committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
