Biography

Dr Simon Pearse graduated with distinction from Edinburgh University before completing his Foundation training in the west of Scotland.

He moved to London for core medical training at Charing Cross and Hammersmith Hospitals before training in cardiology on the north west London rotation, including specialist fellowships in heart failure and devices at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.

He undertook his MD Research into heart failure, devices and sleep apnoea with Professor Cowie and the heart failure service at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Imperial College National Heart and Lung Institute. Dr Pearse was appointed as a Consultant at Kingston and St George’s Hospitals in 2017.

He trained in all aspects of cardiology with sub-speciality interest in heart failure and device therapy. He implants pacemakers and performs angiography at Kingston Hospital, and complex CRT and ICD devices at St George’s hospital, where he is on the electrophysiology on-call rota.

He has an interest in medical education and is a member of the BCS Education Committee. Dr Pearse is actively involved in research and is the UK Chief Investigator for the PERSEPOLIS study and is a co-investigator for the IRONMAN and ISCOMAT studies. He has published in leading international journals and presented at international conferences.
