Biography

Dr Markus Gess has been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Kingston Hospital since 2012. He is the Lead Clinician for the Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy including Hepatology Services and the Medical Day Unit. Dr Gess also consults at St George’s Hospital. Dr Gess provides expertise in all aspects of gastroenterology and liver disease and he is an accomplished endoscopist (Gastroscopy, transnasal endoscopy, enteroscopy, colonoscopy and interventional endoscopy).

Dr Gess studied medicine at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, qualifying in 1999. He undertook his post-graduate clinical training in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and General Internal Medicine in London and he has also worked in academic hepatitis C research. Dr Gess consolidated his specialist interest in liver disease working at King’s College Liver Unit. His clinical practice in the NHS and private sector includes gastroenterology and hepatology clinics and he carries out diagnostic and interventional upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. He offers comprehensive assessments of digestive and liver health, including FibroScans.
