Biography

Dr Andrew Marshall studied medicine at Cambridge University and completed his cardiology specialist training in London. He undertook a period of postgraduate research based at Harefield Hospital investigating patients with heart failure undergoing complex device therapy, which led to the award of a MD (Medical Doctorate) from Cambridge University in 2013. He was appointed Consultant Cardiologist at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust in 2014, successfully leading the echocardiography, heart failure and adult congenital heart disease services. He moved to Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 2022 and is the clinical lead for the cardiac imaging/echocardiography service.

Dr Marshall has expertise in all aspects of general cardiology. His subspecialty interests are in cardiac imaging (transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT and MRI), heart valve disease and heart failure. He also has considerable experience in managing adults with congenital heart disease.

He is accredited in echocardiography, cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology, and has also trained in cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging.

Dr Marshall has dual accreditation in cardiology and general medicine, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. He has a strong focus on medical education and is an examiner for the MRCP PACES examination, a member of the cardiology council of the Royal Society of Medicine, and Training Programme Director for cardiology for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Deanery.
