There are lots of ways to stay in touch with patients at our hospital sites including by post, email and video chats.

Writing

Your relatives and friends are welcome to write to you in hospital.

Please ask them to address the letter or card with your full name and the name of your ward, followed by the hospital’s address:

Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
Galsworthy Road
Kingston upon Thames
KT2 7QB

or

Teddington Memorial Hospital
Hampton Road
Teddington
TW11 0JL

Please note that we are not able to forward on any post sent to the hospital after you have left. Post is delivered and collected from the wards twice daily. If you would like to send a letter, please provide a stamp.

Phoning

If a patient does not have their own mobile phone, or needs support to communicate with relatives and friends, we are able to help.

Our wards have phones that patients can use to call friends or relatives. Please contact ward staff to arrange this. A member of staff will stay with the patient during the call if they need assistance.

If you bring a mobile phone to hospital, be aware that this is at your own risk. The hospital does not take responsibility for the safety of any items apart from those you give to the Nurse in Charge to be registered and locked in a safe.

Video calls

If we close a ward or area, we will make every effort to facilitate virtual visiting for patients by video call, such as FaceTime or WhatsApp video call.

Message to a loved one at Kingston Hospital

Our ‘Message to a loved one’ service enables relatives and close friends to send messages of love and support to patients.

The service is available Monday to Friday, and any messages received over the weekend will be delivered on Monday afternoon.

Please send your message to khft.messagetoalovedone@nhs.net before 12pm for the message to be delivered direct to their loved one at Kingston Hospital on the same day. Messages received after 12pm will be delivered the following day.

You will need to include the following information with your message:

  • The patient’s full name
  • Your relationship to the patient
  • The patient’s date of birth AND the first line of their address

This information will allow us to verify that you know the person well. Unfortunately we are not able to pass messages back from patients to friends and relatives.

Our messaging service provides a quick and simple way to tell someone that you’re thinking of them and to brighten their day with messages, photographs and memories shared.
