About us
The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service has been developed as a joint venture between Macmillan Cancer Support and Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
We want to ensure that people affected by cancer have access to good quality, comprehensive and appropriate information and support.
The service is staffed by a health professional supported by trained volunteers. Some of our volunteers have personal experience of living with cancer.
What we offer
We offer information and support to anyone who has concerns about cancer, including relatives, friends and carers.
If you need help with language translation, email the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service (see Contacts section) and they will arrange this for you.
Information
You are welcome to browse through our information on all aspects of cancer, cancer prevention and healthy lifestyle. This includes printed booklets and audio information.
We hold a series of educational Macmillan workshops throughout the year. Check our Kingston Hospital Macmillan Information Support Service webpage for more details.
Some of our resources are available in different languages or larger print. We also have a range of information for people with learning disabilities. See also translation links in the ‘More information’ section.
Support
We can listen to you and discuss how cancer is affecting your life. We provide confidence building, wellbeing workshops and also scarf tying demonstrations.
A benefits advisor is available if you need advice about your finances.
We invite our patients and carers to participate in a weekly Health Walk and exercise service.
Kingston hospital also offers a range of therapies in addition to clinical services. These include msssage, reflexology and reiki (a type of hands-on healing).
Typical questions
Typical questions include:
- How can I learn more about the type of cancer I have?
