About community follow-up appointments
If you have had cataract surgery, you will need routine follow-up appointments. These appointments allow clinicians to check on your progress after surgery.
You can choose a local optician close to your home for these follow-up appointments.
You can make your local choice when you have your pre-assessment appointment prior to your cataract surgery. At this pre-assessment, a member of the Royal Eye Unit team will discuss your follow-up care.
Making a follow-up appointment
Once you have been discharged following surgery, we will notify your chosen community optician that you would like to be reviewed by them.
They will contact you within 1 week to arrange an appointment. They will discuss your appointment time, explain where to go, and give you detailed directions, if required.
If you have not heard from them after 1 week, contact the Kingston Hospital Royal Eye Unit (see Contacts below).
Important information
If you experience loss of vision, pain or red eye following your surgery, contact our Acute Referral Clinic on 020 8934 6799.
