This information tells you what a red bag is and what it is for.
What is a red bag for?
The red bag is for care home residents. It helps them:
- get the right care and treatment
- be cared for in the right place and in the right way
- be treated at the right time
- have what they need with them.
A red bag will go with the resident if they go into hospital.
It is usually packed by the care home staff.
What is in the red bag?
The red bag contains essential information and items people need in hospital, such as:
- up-to-date medical and personal information
- dentures, glasses and hearing aids
- clothes (including nightwear)
- toiletries.
