About the Acute Oncology Service (AOS)

The AOS team does the following.

  • Provides oncological advice to your medical team on a wide range of cancer related issues.
  • Liaises between your medical and oncology teams if you are already being treated for your cancer in another hospital.
  • Helps to access relevant clinical information which may be essential in planning your care at Kingston Hospital.
  • Helps to ensure you are offered the most appropriate tests and treatments.
  • Gives you support, information and advice while you are in hospital and refer you to Cancer Nurse Specialists (CNS) when needed.

AOS team

The AOS team comprises the following:

  • A Consultant Oncologist
  • A Lead Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
  • Acute Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS)
  • An AOS Administrator.

  • Giving you written information and explaining things so you and your family. understand your diagnosis and care.
  • Offering advice on dealing with problems caused by your diagnosis or treatment.
  • Listening and giving emotional or practical support.
  • Offering information about services and other organisations.
  • Talking about your diagnosis and care with other health and social care professionals.
