The doctor wants to look at your food pipe as you find it hard to keep food down.
This is done doing a barium swallow. This is a machine that takes a picture of your food pipe.
If you find it difficult to stand, you can sit while the machine takes a picture of your food pipe.
You must not eat or drink before the test.
You will be given a white liquid to drink. This helps them see your food pipe.
A family member or carer can stay with you if you want.
The test will take 20 minutes.
When this is done you can go home.
Your tummy may feel sore afterwards. This is normal.
Drink plenty of water.
