Apply to be a volunteer today

At Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust, we are very proud of our dedicated team of volunteers who help us deliver the best in care to our patients.

Our volunteers are part of the Trust team and complement the work of our paid staff to enhance the experience of patients, carers, visitors and staff.

They have a huge impact on our patient services, supporting staff by doing the little things that make a difference.

As well as the difference they make to others, our volunteers often comment on the positive impact being a volunteer has made on their lives. It has helped them to meet new friends, improve their self-confidence and motivation, whilst keeping them active and feeling that they have a valuable contribution to make that is greatly appreciated.

A message from the Chief Nurse

Welcome to volunteering at our Trust.

Nic_Kane_March_2022_low_res.jpgI’m Nichola Kane and I’m the Chief Nurse. I’m enthusiastic about the time and energy that volunteers bring to our Trust. As I visit the many locations where we care for our patients, I witness the difference volunteering can make for patients and families.

Patients affected by dementia are connecting with volunteers online in ways that encourage creativity, fun and participation. Our Dining Companions provide thoughtful and compassionate assistance to patients at mealtimes, making their dining experience more pleasant and sociable. The Discharge Support Volunteers enable us to bridging the gap between the hospital and home, providing much needed shopping, support and sign-posting to help people connect with sources of help that are closer to home. I’m especially proud of the range of roles that volunteers can do across our hospital and the impact this has for our patients. I’m also committed to your development and welfare as a volunteer. In return for choosing us, we promise to give you a well-crafted and enjoyable volunteering experience that is safe, impactful and delivers the benefits that you’re looking for when you sign-up to volunteer.

We look forward to meeting you as you embark on what is a truly rewarding volunteering journey at the Trust.
