Values
Home, community, hospital
We provide community care in the London borough of Richmond, and we work in partnership with Your Healthcare who provide community care in Kingston. We also provide a full range of acute services at Kingston Hospital, and short-stay rehabilitation at Teddington Memorial Hospital.
We serve a wider population for a range of specialist services. This includes hospital and outpatient services for people in Elmbridge (Surrey), Merton, Wandsworth and Sutton, and community immunisations for most of south London.
We help people to stay well in the community, manage their own health with the right support and avoid unnecessary stays in hospital.
When people do need specialist hospital care, our experienced professionals deliver an outstanding quality of acute care, using advanced technology and evidence-based procedures to ensure the best outcomes.
Our hospitals
Kingston Hospital has over 400 beds and provides a full range of diagnostic services and treatments. We are particularly known for our excellent cancer care and maternity services. The hospital has a full 24/7 emergency department (A&E), intensive care unit and specialist treatment facilities.
Teddington Memorial is a community hospital housing rehabilitation wards, an urgent treatment centre, outpatient clinics, therapies, and diagnostics - including x-ray and ultrasound.
Bringing together Kingston Hospital and HRCH
Following several years of close partnership working and shared leadership, in November 2024 Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH) and Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust formally joined together and are now called Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.
Kingston Hospital and HRCH have been working in partnership, and with a joint Chair, since 2020. In 2021, Jo Farrar was appointed joint Chief Executive of Kingston Hospital and HRCH, and in April 2022, we brought the executive leadership teams of the two organisations together as one, establishing a Committee in Common to make key strategic decisions with the benefit of expertise and insight from across the full range of services.
We know from healthcare services elsewhere that, by bringing our services and resources together and working as one team, we can focus on keeping people well in their own homes for as long as possible.
Since 2021, we have also worked in a formal partnership with Your Healthcare who deliver community healthcare in Kingston, and much of our governance, including our Chief Nurse, is aligned. Your Healthcare will continue to provide community services working in partnership with us and we will continue to share best practice and work jointly, where appropriate, to benefit residents across Kingston and Richmond.
How we fit into the NHS
We are part of the National Health Service (NHS), which is the publicly-funded healthcare system in the United Kingdom.
We are a community and acute NHS provider and the services we run are purchased by commissioners, such as clinical commissioning groups, local authorities and NHS England.
People are normally referred to us from other parts of the NHS or from other professional groups, such as social services and education.
We work closely with social services, schools, and voluntary organisations to provide our local communities with a comprehensive range of health services.
