Our communities can play a key role in reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Whether you are a patient, a visitor, a member of staff or member of the local community, there are several ways you can help.

Reduce and recycle waste

You can help reduce waste by bringing your own reusable water bottle or cup for your favourite takeaway drink.

If you're given a paper leaflet, why not ask if there is a digital version available?

Recycling bins are provided at our sites, making it easy to dispose of materials responsibly.

Use sustainable transport

Why not consider using public transport, cycling, or walking to your appointments?

Not only will this reduce your carbon footprint, but it also removes the need to park your car and provides a great opportunity to fit some exercise into your day.

You can check our locations page to find out more about facilities available at each of our sites.

Consider eco-friendly choices

Did you know that some treatment such as inhalers for asthma are more eco-friendly than others, while still being just as beneficial for you? Feel free to ask your healthcare practitioner if there are alternative, environmentally friendly options for your treatment.

Advocate for greener healthcare

You can help raise awareness within your community about the importance of sustainable practices in healthcare. By advocating for greener choices - such as asking about the Trust's sustainability initiatives or encouraging others to get involved - you can make a real difference.

By incorporating these simple ideas into your hospital or community clinic visits and lifestyle, you can contribute to creating a more sustainable healthcare system.
