Olympic medalists kick off annual Night to Remember charity walk
Findings from the Care Quality Commission’s National Maternity Survey 2024 have recognised the high level of care offered to those who choose Kingston Hospital for their maternity journey.
The survey results are based on the experiences of 187 people who used Kingston Hospital’s maternity services and birthed their babies in February 2024. A total of 367 women and birthing people were invited to take part and the Trust’s response rate of 52% was above the average for all trusts this year, and an improvement on the response rate for the previous year.
Results from the survey show that Kingston’s maternity unit remains in the top 5 performing units in London, in 9 out of 10 categories, with service user experience being best in the following areas:
- Partner or someone else close to service user was able to stay as much as the service user wanted
- Receiving help and advice from a midwife about feeding baby in the four weeks after birth
- Frequency of seeing or speaking to a midwife (after birth)
- Receiving help and advice from a midwife about baby’s health and progress in the four weeks after birth
- Start of pregnancy: Information from a midwife or doctor to help service users decide where to have their baby
Director of Midwifery, Marion Louki, said: “I am really grateful to everyone who took the time to share their views in the latest maternity survey, and to everyone working across our maternity services. I’m proud of the high-quality care that we deliver and am really pleased to see this reflected in the CQC Maternity Survey results again this year. We are committed to continuous improvement and value all feedback to help us provide the best possible experience for our service users.”
People who give birth during February 2025 will be invited to take part in the next CQC National Maternity Survey.
